What is Respite care

Respite care is short term care to help primary caregivers.  Each facility charges a daily rate that includes all care and services.  Some facilities will not do respite stays shorter than 7 days.  The rates literally fluctuate daily.  Respite care is a great option for caregivers who just need a break, are taking a vacation or have other responsibilities that need their immediate attention.

It’s also a great option if a relative is being discharged from the hospital or rehab and you need to get additional equipment or services lined up. I have seen the rates be as low as $50 a day and as high as $300 a day in Collin County.  Not all facilities offer Respite Care.  Here a link to a good article that discusses respite care.  What Is Respite Care?
